2. Purpose and acceptance Accessing the MBN MÉTÉO+ application and submitting meteorological observations constitute full acceptance of these terms. Users who do not agree with these provisions must refrain from using the crowdsourced reporting feature.

3. Crowdsourced weather reports (UGC) The application allows users to share real-time weather observations (rain, snow, storm, hail, strong wind, etc.) to inform the local community:

  • No account required: reports do not require a personal account and are linked pseudonymously to an anonymized device identifier (Device ID).
  • Geographic anonymization: report GPS coordinates are automatically centered on the centroid of a 1.3 km grid cell before publication. Exact personal locations are never published.
  • Temporary lifespan: observations are ephemeral and expire automatically after a set duration (between 35 minutes and 2.5 hours depending on the weather phenomenon).

4. User obligations and conduct By submitting a weather report, you formally agree to:

  • Submit real and current observations witnessed personally at the time of submission.
  • Refrain from sending false, misleading, or automated submissions (spam).
  • Participate fairly in the community report confirmation and dispute voting system.

5. Moderation and enforcement Reports are subject to community and editorial moderation controls:

  • Community voting: nearby users can confirm or dispute an observation. Highly disputed reports may be hidden from the map automatically.
  • Publisher right of removal: the publisher reserves the right to delete any inaccurate or abusive report at any time without notice.

6. License grant on submitted weather data By submitting a weather observation through the application, you grant the publisher a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, aggregate, display, and distribute this meteorological information within the MBN MÉTÉO+ app, the meteonormandie.fr website, and official communication channels.

7. Disclaimer and safety warnings

  • Informational purpose: forecasts and crowdsourced reports are provided for informational and decision-support purposes only. The publisher does not guarantee exhaustive accuracy of third-party submissions.
  • Official civil protection alerts: MBN MÉTÉO+ is not a substitute for official warnings issued by public authorities and national meteorological agencies (such as Météo-France). In hazardous conditions, official public instructions always prevail.
  • Liability: the publisher shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages resulting from the use of the application or the interpretation of crowdsourced data.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute concerning their validity, interpretation, or enforcement shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Caen, France.
